Grade 5
About Grade 5
After last year's incredible success—where all of our Grade 3 students achieved Distinction—we're thrilled to be offering LAMDA Grade 5 Musical Theatre this year!
This is a solo performance exam, and we have increased from last year both the number of sessions as a group but more significantly the number of 1:1 sessions you will have with your Lamda teacher, Vocal Coach and Dance Coach. This is to ensure you are well prepared and excited to perform by the time we reach exam day.
Students will:
- Perform two contrasting musical theatre songs from memory and in character. There is a list of repertoire for this exam available at the bottom
-Perform one spoken song, with lyrics from a musical theatre piece.
- Introduce each piece with a short spoken explanation (title, musical, character, and context).
- Demonstrate expressive movement and strong characterisation.
- Answer brief questions from the examiner about their pieces and choices.
-Understand the term Libretto and be able to explain this to the examiner.
Exams
All students will take part in a mock examination on the 21st February at the City of Liverpool College Arts Building between 2 and 5pm. This mock exam will make sure that each student is fully prepared for what to expect when entering the exam room, and will allow our LAMDA tutors to give them some final feedback before their exam.
The final examination will take place on the 28th February at The Liverpool Bluecoat School. Exam day last year was a vibrant occasion, with Ali and Emma on hand to support the children at any time. All the examiners are lovely, and there will be tea and biscuits available for all waiting parents. This is the only day exams can take place, and not being available on this day will mean your child won't be able to take any LAMDA exam this year. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding rehearsals or exams, we are always here to help.
