Grade 7

About LAMDA Grade 7

The LAMDA Grade 7 in Solo Musical Theatre qualification is an advanced examination that requires skills in singing, acting and dancing. Students who pass the exam will receive a Silver Medal in Musical Theatre.

This exam can last up to 40 minutes, and requires a performance of 3 songs from 3 different eras of musical theatre, each with a devised monologue to accompany the piece. Students will also have to answer in depth knowledge questions based around character, technique, and story telling.

Students taking this exam will be given a song list, however this is not prescriptive, and if a student wishes to perform a different piece, they are very much able to do so. Click here to access the recommended repertoire list.

As well as the brilliant skills and technique students will learn as part of our Grade 7 tuition, the qualification is also worth UCAS Points, which our students when applying for university.

Exams

All students will take part in a mock examination on the 21st February at the City of Liverpool College Arts Building between 2 and 5pm. This mock exam will make sure that your students are fully prepared for what to expect when entering the exam room, and will allow our LAMDA tutors to give them some final feedback before their exam.

The final examination will take place on the 28th February at The Liverpool Bluecoat School. Exam day last year was a vibrant occasion, with Ali and Emma on hand to support the children at any time. All the examiners are lovely, and there will be tea and biscuits available for all waiting parents. This is the only day exams can take place, and not being available on this day will mean your child won't be able to take their LAMDA exam this year. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding rehearsals or exams, we are always here to help.
